Barbara A. Harvey Elementary
Welcome to Third Grade!
Hi, my name is Mrs. Collins, In 2008 I began teaching, as a substitute, which I did for seven years. During the final three years I worked exclusively for grades K-5 and part of each year as a Florida Standards Assessment (FSA) small group teacher for grades 3-5 at Braden River Elementary. Then, I began teaching third in 2015. Third grade is by far my favorite and this year at Harvey will be my ninth year in third grade and my fourth year as a Shark!

I grew up in New Jersey and moved to Florida 27 years ago to attend Eckerd College in St. Petersburg. I graduated from Eckerd with a B.A. in Environmental Science and worked eight years for Manatee County. After that, I went back to school to become a teacher and earned my teaching certificate in 2010. I am certified to teach K-5, Middle Grades Science, I also have my ESOL and Reading K-12 Endorsements.
After I graduated college, I married my college sweetheart, Kevin, and we have 3 children, Kieren, Aidan and Ashlyn. Aidan is a Gator in his freshman year at the University of Florida, Ashlyn is in 10th grade at Braden River High, and my oldest son, Kieren, is a Graduate student at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Maryland.

I love learning, reading, going to the beach and watching baseball (Go Red Sox). I am looking forward to getting to know all of my students this year and learning all about what they love. I believe that every student has great potential for learning and each year I am excited to provide a positive, engaging environment for my students to realize that potential. My goal is to inspire the independent, motivated, responsible learner and community member in all my students. We will definitely have a great time learning and making memories together this year!! Family, Memories, Passion! Go Sharks!
